Welcome to our June newsletter. It’s been a very busy month for us, so much going on it seems to have flown by in a flash.
In the coming week we will be moving our operations to our new Dallas data centre. In testing we’re seeing over 250% improvement in page load times for our US users and over 200% for the rest of the world.

eBid Moves To New Data Center In The USA

eBid have just announced they will be moving there servers to a new data center in Dallas, Texas at the end of May 09 or early June 09, The the new data center will host a total of 18 brand new servers which will give eBid far more capacity, speed and reliability to it’s users.

eBid Begins To Roll Out 2009 Upgrades
Posted on April 22nd, 2009 No commentseBid.net announces the release of the first tranche of site upgrades as part of it 2009 technical implementation program which follows feedback from its international user community for upgraded and new functions and features to make this popular marketplace quicker and easier to use.
The first of a planned series of technical roll outs encompasses 18 upgrades including: Sales tax facilities for US and Canadian sellers to provide transparency of final cost; My Bulk Editing for mass editing of auctions; Mass closing of auction via eBid’s bespoke spreadsheet facility; Google Maps for About Me pages; Search engine enhancements for improved numerical searches and Contact Forms for direct attachments. In addition members now receive five free photos with each auction, can upload photos from personal computers and see thumbnails when listing auctions.

eBid Supports Earth Day 2009 By Offering Recycling Opportunites

As Earth Day approaches on April 22, the largest homegrown auction site, eBid.net is encouraging members to clear out their closets and recycle unwanted clothes via its site to hundreds of thousands of eager buyers of second hand items.
It is estimated that more than 1 million tonnes of textiles are thrown away every year, with most of this coming from household sources. Textiles make up about 3% by weight of a household bin. At least 50% of the textiles we throw away are recyclable; however, the proportion of textile wastes reused or recycled annually in the UK is only around 25%.
