Advice to buyers
There are millions of items for sale on eBid from sellers offering alternative postage options. These are not affected by the industrial action.
To find out whether the seller offers alternative postage options, click the ‘View Shipping Details’ link on the left when viewing an item. If you have already purchased an item you can check the seller’s postal service by going to ‘My eBid, Summery and click on the Won tab.
If your item is being delivered by Royal Mail then we recommend you stay in touch with your seller during the delivery period. When providing feedback on a purchase, please bear the impact of the industrial action in mind.
Please also keep up-to-date with developments by checking the Royal Mail website.
Advice to sellers
If your item can be sent by an alternative postal carrier we suggest you offer this as a new postage option immediately. While the uncertainty lasts, we’re suggesting buyers consider alternative postage options to Royal Mail as these aren’t affected by the industrial action. Bear in mind that if your item is suitable for local pick-up, you should indicate this in your listings as well.
We understand some sellers may not have a viable alternative to Royal Mail. We have received assurances from Royal Mail that post during the industrial action period will still be delivered, however delays will be inevitable. We encourage you to contact your buyer and inform them there may be a delay.
At a time like this, good communication is more important than ever. Overseas buyers, for example, may not be aware a strike action is planned.
Please keep up to date with developments by checking the Royal Mail website.
